What is a Blog?
How to write a blog? When to start writing a blog? What are the tools in writing a blog?
What is really a blog?
A Blog, according to Wikipedia, is a contraction of the term weblog. It is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Interesting right?
"Blog" in English language means "to maintain or add content to a blog". Grammatically, it functions as a verb.
Believe it or not because not all of us, shall we say "bloggers", know what really is a blog and how it benefits us. For almost eleven (11) years that I have been surfing the net, scams are everywhere just waiting for you to be discovered, so, I never really learn to trust everything on the web - worst, I never tried.
Last year, I decided to give it a try but I am still doubtful even if I have read a lot of comments that their blogspot is earning - dollars not peso. I was doubtful but anxious enough to discover the truth about maintaining a blog. True to my doubts my first blog, sad to say, never earn a single centavo. May be because I did not take it seriously as I am weighing my trust in between my doubts and hopes.
What if 11 years ago I tried and eventually give my trust in blogging? Will it earn me a place in the net? May be a YES or may be a NO. But don't you know that positive outlook will help you open doors of opportunity? Who knows ----
Think not first on how you will earn but start by knowing how to start. Well, first you have to decide what kind of blog you want to have. Second, plan on how you are going to implement it. Third, decide and prepare the topics you wish to publish. Before you publish it, try to criticize your idea by employing the 4 way test:
1. Is it the TRUTH,
2. Is it FAIR to everyone,
3. Is it BENEFICIAL to your reader, and
4. Will it bring GOODWILL to your readers. If all you answers are YES then by all means GO!
Please understand that writing a blog isn't just writing for the purpose of writing. The purpose of which is to share your ideas and let your readers learn from it - shall we say benefit from it. Good English is never an issue as long as you know how to convey to your reader/s the idea that you wish to impart to them. To me that is what writing is all about. As you write, you will soon become the critic of your own language - in that way you are learning you way to become a better if not the best writer in the net. Is this not a FAIR exchange for all your efforts? I think - YES! Learning by experience.
Many bloggers, shall we say, are not computer geniuses and some have not even had computer language backgrounds but they know how to blog. Why? Because the tools that are being used in building up your blog were already provided and they are user friendly. You will learn to program even if you are not a programmer and you will learn to write even if you are not a writer. That is what learning by experience means.
